For this beautiful trek you need to be in good shape as you pass
the altitude of 5,000 Mt and many "up's and downs" are
part of the way.

- DAY 1: MANALI - DARCHA (2200
Mt)
You leave Manali in the early morning by jeep, cross Rohtang pass
and enter Lahaul, to the valley of glaciers. Camp at Darcha along
the way to Leh.
- DAY 2: DARCHA - CAMP1 (3580 Mt)
During the 4 to 5 hours walk you pass a spectacular gorge and
cross a ford to reach our camp.
- DAY 3: CAMP1 - RAMYAK (3750 Mt)
It takes about 6 to 7 hours to reach the camp at Ramyak, a small
meadow.
- DAY 4: RAMYAK - SHINKUN LA (5090 Mt) - GUMBURANJON
(4450Mt)
Today's trek is about 8 to 9 hours. You climb moderate slopes,
cross rivulets and walk up the zigzag path to Shinkun La. After
some descent you camp on a small plateau, Gumburanjon.
- DAY 5: GUMBUANJON - TABLE (4000
Mt)
During your 6 hours walk you encounter lots of "fallen"
stones, cross several rivulets and pass Kargiyak. The last two
hours take you to the camp at Table.
- DAY 6: TABLE - PURNE (3650 Mt)
A 6 hours walk from Table takes you through beautiful villages
and narrow gorges to Purne where you camp.
- DAY 7: PURNE - PHUKTAL - PURNE
An excursion to Phutkal monastery, one of Zanskar's most spectacular
sites, is on today's program.
- DAY 8: PURNE - ICHAR
A 5 to 6 hours trek takes you through the villages Cha, Kaydang
and Surie. Camp at the fortified village Ichar.
- DAY 9: ICHAR - MUNE
Crossing a beautiful flower covered plain, you can camp opposite
the monastery at Mune. Today's trek is about 5 hours.
- DAY 10: MUNE - PADUM (3600 Mt)
It takes about 6 hours to reach Padum. A visit to Barden Gompa,
a Kagyupa monastery famous for its prayer wheel (180 cm high)
is recommended. Several beautiful villages are situated on the
other side of the river. From Padum the leads down to Kargil.
- DAY 11: PADUM
Full day rest at Padum.
- DAY 12: PADUM - KARSHA
About 3 to 4 hours will take you to Karsha village and its beautiful
Gelupa Monastery of the fifteenth century. Camp at Karsha.
- DAY 13: KARSHA - PISHU
On todays 5 hours trek you pass along an impressive hanging bridge
over Zanskar river. Camp near village Pishu.
- DAY 14: PISHU - HANUMIL
Five hours easy going are on today's program. The way leads along
the river and crosses the morainic plateau. Camp at Hanumil.
- DAY 15: HANUMIL - PARFI-LA (3900 Mt) - SNERTSE
During today's 6 hours trek you cross Parfi-La and reach the Oma
Chu river, where you have a wonderful lookout. Camp at Snertse.
- DAY 16: SNERTSE - HANUMA-LA (4700 Mt) -
LINGSHED
A long, gradual ascent towards Hunuma-La is on today's program.
After many ups and downs you reach the camp near monastery Lingshed
in about 6 hours.
- DAY 17: LINGSHED
Full day rest at Lingshed
- DAY 18: LINGSHED - FOOT OF THE SENGGE-LA
A 6 hours trek. You cross the Murgum-La (4100 Mt.), view the wonderful
landscape of Nierag valley on the other bank of Zanskar until
a very steep climb leads you to Kiupa-La (3850 Mt.). A final easy
walk leads to your camp at the foot of Sengge-La.
- DAY 19: FOOT OF THE SENGGE-LA - SENGGE-LA
(5000 Mt) - PHOTOSKAR (3750 Mt)
About 7 hour's of climb and descent take you over Sengge-La (5000
Mt.) and Bumiktse-La (4200 Mt.) to a splendid village at the base
of huge mountain "walls". Camp at Photoskar.
- DAY 20: PHOTOSKAR - SIRSIR-LA (4800 Mt)
- HANUPATTA
Today's 6 hours walk includes the ascent and descent of Sirsir-La.
You camp below the village of Hanupatta.
- DAY 21: HANUPATTA - WANLA
It's about a 5 hour's trek with gorges, easy and difficult stretches
to reach the beautiful monastery of Wanla. Camp at Wanla.
- DAY 22: WANLA - LAMAYURU
About 3 hours take you to the most photographed monastery in Ladakh
at Lamayuru, from where the road leads further to Leh.
