After the sudden demise of Mr.Vedram Thakur in 1971, Shri
Satya Prakash Thakur its elected Chairman has brought new dimensions
to its all around progress. Shri Thakur devoted his heart and
soul to improve the socio-economic development of handloom weavers
of this valley in general and its weaver members in particular.
Shri Thakur a cooperative leader has successfully fought against
powerloom and maintained the unique characteristics of handloom
product.
Today
it stands out as one of the finest examples of the successful
cooperative manufacturing and marketing ventures in the country.
Based on the cooperative principles using the Mahatma Gandhi's
guiding philosophy today it has over 400 member weaver directly
/indirectly helping over 1000 families to earn and live on decent
incomes. The affairs of Bhuttico are professionally managed by
its highly qualified, experienced, devoted and dedicated staff
members.
The management of Bhuttico is elected and working under its
enshrined Principal of cooperative i.e. Each for one and one
for all. Under the collective leadership, the society is meeting
the stiff challenges from the powerloom sector and recently
the private sector onslaught of free economy on account of the
liberalization policy the society is making its steady progress.
Bhutti weaver cooperative society is the story of what the sustained
and consistent efforts can do to convert a daily use product
of a particular area into a must have for every lady.
The
Kullu shawl based on rural handicraft has been converted on
the handloom by these weaver in to an article which is delicately
designed, colorful and at the same time soft and warm and with
in the reach of most customer. By maintaining high standards
of quality and evolving new design and colors with in the traditional
framework of the Kullu shawls it cater to every test. It is
only shawl cooperative to have the "Woolmark" license for all
its product.
In
an efforts to further up grade in terms of quality and technology
it has setup its own wool / yarn testing laboratory and is actively
working on introducing vegetable dyes and is looking out for
