Kinnauri shawls (Kinnaur- a place in Himachal Pradesh) are famous for their intricate geometrical designs that needs great expertise in weaving. The designs on these shawls carry special religious significance and colors used in patterning carry mythological background. Usually fine colors are used in typical Kinnauri shawl- white signifies water, yellow stands for earth, red for fire, green for air and blue for aether. Different shades are being used in the shawls as per the requirements. Nowadays even soft vegetable dyed colors are used in Kinnauri shawls.
